On the Rhode Again: Northeast Region Meeting Heads to Providence

NACD’s Northeast Region Meeting is heading to the historic Graduate Hotel in downtown Providence, Rhode Island from September 18-20, so be sure to book your place and join us for what is always a collaborative and empowering event.

From the moment you set foot inside the grand lobby of this 100-year-old venue, we’re certain you’ll enjoy a productive few days filled with topical presentations, networking events, and opportunities to collaborate with regional peers.

The meeting begins with time to meet peers and colleagues at our golf tournament and opening reception before everyone settles in for what promises to be a fantastic program.

As always, we have top-quality speakers discussing topics carefully curated for our Northeast region members. Attendees will learn new leadership techniques, discover how to overcome the challenges of a multi-generational workplace, and find out about the latest trends and issues affecting fire safety and the trucking industry.

We’ll be kicking off the meeting on Tuesday morning with keynote speaker Karen McCullough and her high-energy interactive session on how best to work with different generations in your business, understanding what makes them tick, and unlocking that potential.

Later that day, consultant Becky Frederick from Workplace Strategy, Inc. – a familiar face at NACD meetings – will talk about leadership in uncertain times. She’ll share her views on where we are with the economy right now and how business is reacting to a post-COVID world, and then outline how leaders can ensure their staff remain productive, comfortable, and safe even in the most trying circumstances.

The following morning, the hot topic of fire safety will see Mike Marando, Senior Chemical Engineer at the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) take a deep dive into the NFPA 30 provisions, the Flammable and Combustible Liquid Code, and how to safely store product. With a big update coming in 2024, Marando will provide an in-depth preview of what we can expect and how companies can best prepare.

The final session of the day will examine what is driving freight rates and provide valuable insight into what lies on the road ahead. Lindsay Bur, Senior Trucking Economic Analyst at the American Trucking Association, will offer her perspective on recent economic trends and how they are likely to affect prices going forward, as well as the growing importance of sustainability and opportunities posed by green trucking.

Registration for the Northeast Region Meeting is open. We look forward to you joining us in Rhode Island this September.
