The chemical distribution industry is constantly changing. From regulatory updates to complex supply chain challenges, and even new sustainability requirements our customers are now requiring, it’s clear that resources and connections are more important than ever.
Year after year, the National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD) has been at the forefront of this change, ensuring that our members are informed, supported, and connected. Whether you’re a distributor, carrier, service provider, warehouse, supplier, or manufacturer, NACD has proudly been the voice of the chemical distribution industry for more than 50 years. We have worked hard to ensure our members – new and old – feel supported, understand the range of resources available to them, and take advantage of opportunities for future growth.
The safe movement of chemicals is at the core of our work. As leaders in the chemical industry, it’s critical that we have a laser focus commitment on safety. We achieve this through NACD’s Responsible Distribution program, our trusted third-party verified environmental, health, safety, and sustainability program. By providing members with a framework around these principles, we can help them incorporate best-in-class standards into their business planning.
For newer members, this initiative can seem daunting, but NACD serves as a partner every step of the way. Francis Mayer, General Manager and Chief Financial Officer of Premier Chemicals & Services in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, recently moved out of the candidacy phase to become a full-fledged Distributor Member. They achieved this milestone by passing their initial Responsible Distribution verification.
“Sustainability can be difficult in the chemical distribution business, but the guidance set out in the Responsible Distribution program has been extremely helpful in accelerating our goal of putting together a sustainability and environmental framework that works with our business,” said Mayer. “I can say we are a stronger company now that we have become NACD Responsible Distribution verified.”
NACD has also prioritized improving communication and networking among its members to help them navigate some of the biggest issues facing the industry.
“This March, I was able to join NACD’s Regulatory Workshop and learn from the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) about some of the risks associated with our line of work and what we can do to improve and increase our alertness,” said Mayer. “These educational opportunities give us the chance to expand our network across the country and provide us with a sounding board to problem solve. We appreciate the support and education gained by being a member of NACD.”
Together, we are advancing a safer and more reliable chemical distribution industry. It is our mission to champion our members through all aspects of your work and to help you increase productivity, ensure regulatory compliance, and develop a lasting professional network so that you’re prepared to tackle the challenges of today and tomorrow.
