Make Your Mark by Volunteering with NACD

NACD is committed to supporting and representing our membership to ensure the chemical distribution industry – and indeed, your businesses – can thrive. But we can’t do this without your help.

We’re inviting all NACD members and Affiliates to get involved with one of our various committees and task forces. Your contribution and insight are absolutely invaluable to ensuring we better represent the interests of our community and continuously improve our programs and initiatives.

This is your opportunity to meet with like-minded peers and colleagues, learn new skills, and help set the agenda for the association moving forward.

Each committee typically consists of 10-12 volunteers, serving a two- or three-year term – although you’re most welcome to stay on for longer. You can even sign up to work across multiple committees.

The committees are all led by a chairperson and co-chair and include at least one NACD Board Member and  member of staff. As a key member of the team, you’ll play your part in steering us on our journey to determine how we address outreach, advocacy, regulatory and legislative issues, training, and more.

We value your time, which is why our committees are thoughtfully designed not to disrupt your regular work commitments. You will, however, be invited to come together on quarterly conference calls and join the occasional in-person event, usually taking place during our ChemEdge Trade Show and Conference or Annual Meeting.

No matter your interests, skills, or expertise, there are a wide variety of committees and sub-committees to choose from.

Our Education Committee – including its ChemEdge, Regional Planning, and Safety Training Subcommittees – is dedicated to developing our ever-growing catalog of training and educational resources, including NACD U and the Emerging Leaders Program.

There’s the Government Policy & Advocacy Committee (GPAC), with its seven subcommittees: Chemical Product Safety, Facility Process Safety, Environmental, Security, State Issues, Trade, and Transportation. Here, you’ll support the organization’s efforts to help improve the legislative framework affecting the chemical industry.

Responsible Distribution also has its own group, which oversees NACD’s mandatory third-party verified environmental, health, safety, and security program.

Other committees include the Finance & Investment Committee, Warehouse Committee, and Membership Advancement and Retention Committee – including the Producer Affiliate Relations Subcommittee.

And lastly, there’s the Leadership Development Committee, with its efforts focused on adding to our pool of volunteers to further enhance and populate all the above.

Participation is proven to help with both personal and professional growth and development, and we regularly receive fantastic feedback from those involved.

No matter your role or responsibility at your company, we encourage you to reach out to NACD and join us. This is your chance to get your voice heard, share perspectives, and make a real difference.
