Helping You Make Connections With Congress

Be sure to make a note in your calendars for Congress Connect in May, the new virtual version of our annual Washington Fly-In that puts you face to face with your local legislators.

Registration is now open for the first-ever online alternative to the Fly-In, which will be taking place from May 4-14, 2021.

This is a very different world we’re living in right now, so NACD has developed a very different approach to this popular event.

We recognize just how busy our members are, and all the great work you do on a daily basis – never more so than during the current COVID-19 pandemic. By spreading the event across two weeks, this new format ensures you have every opportunity to engage with those on Capitol Hill with minimal impact on your busy schedules.

We take care of all the arrangements, and there’s no travel required either – simply sign into Zoom and be transported to their congressional offices for your live 30-minute face-to-face meetings.

Everything is made even easier thanks to our new mobile app, NACD ReACT, which allows you to view the agenda, access the biographies of members of Congress, and see their views and positions on various legislation.

There are plenty of new faces on the Hill and now more than ever, it’s particularly important that we get in front of the decision-makers to discuss the key issues affecting our industry.

Congress Connect allows you to meet and interact with lawmakers and their staff to showcase the hugely important role chemical distribution has to play. This is your chance to explain how their policies affect your business, so make sure you grasp this opportunity to help shape the future.

There will certainly be plenty to talk about. Trade and transportation will be our primary focus – both huge issues that desperately need the attention of the new administration.

Both the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) and Miscellaneous Tariff Bill (MTB) have yet to be renewed, so we’ll be raising our efforts to get these important programs back to the top of the agenda.

On the transportation side, we’ll also be looking to address the ongoing driver shortage as well as the issues with maritime shipping after a year of port congestion, backlogs and soaring freight rates.

As ever, there will also be plenty of opportunities to raise issues specific to you and your business as well.

The event will open with a keynote speaker – who will be revealed very soon – and a Congressional Advocacy 101 Prep session to brief you on the critical issues facing the industry and offer invaluable tips about how to get the most out of your meetings.

And don’t worry, a member of NACD’s Government Affairs team will always be on hand during your calls too. Don’t miss your chance to connect with Congress! We can’t wait to see you there.

Secure your space and register online today or download a hard copy registration form.
