AI, Superfund Tax, and Crisis Media Training: What to Expect at the 2024 Northeast Region Meeting

From cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) innovations to crucial updates on the Superfund tax and expert media training, this year’s Northeast Region Meeting is set to tackle the most pressing topics shaping our industry.

From September 23-25, 2024, ACD members will come together discuss the latest trends affecting the industry and broaden their network.

This year, we’re excited to be heading to National Harbor, Maryland for the very first time. Conveniently located along the Northeast Corridor and just outside Washington D.C., the Westin Washington National Harbor hotel sits on the edge of the Potomac River.

Opening the meeting on Monday afternoon, there’s a chance to catch up with colleagues for a few hours of fun at the nearby Topgolf interactive driving range before heading back to the hotel for the opening reception.

A full day of programming on Tuesday begins with Eric Byer, ACD President & CEO, setting out all the new initiatives and programs being worked on by the Alliance, and how we’re working hard to represent and support the interests of our membership.

AI is undoubtedly one of the hottest topics in the industry today, and we're thrilled to welcome Author and Keynote Speaker, Andrew Davis, to showcase the positive potential of this groundbreaking technology. In his enlightening session, Davis will demonstrate how AI can enhance your skills rather than replace them, and explore the innovative ways companies are leveraging AI to drive success in their businesses.

American Chemistry Council’s Ross Eisenberg, President of America’s Plastic Makers™ will then provide an important update on one of the most versatile materials on the planet. He’ll discuss the current state of the plastics industry, the latest developments, and how they’re affecting the chemical sector.

For the first session of the afternoon, PwC's Excise Tax Practice Leader, Andrew Nunes, will provide a detailed update on current processes and how IRS administration for the tax is progressing.

Later, we’ll hear from Gerard Braud, communications expert and Founder of Situation Hub, who will look at how one wrong word can derail your response during a crisis.

When an emergency arises, it’s essential you manage your messaging appropriately – and that means knowing how to handle media interviews. During his presentation, Braud will run through the best ways your spokespeople can practice and prepare. He’ll compare adlib and scripted interviews, explain the pitfalls and challenges, while offering insight into how best to pivot and prepare for a meeting with the press.

Wednesday starts off strong with Steve Borseti of Sandler. ACD recently partnered with Sandler to launch our exclusive Sales Academy, designed to help unlock our members’ sales potential with invaluable tips and techniques. In his presentation, Borseti, Sales Performance Consultant at Sandler, will walk through actionable concepts that can immediately be applied to help boost your sales performance, find prospects, and seal the deal.

And finally, just before the meeting adjourns, ACD’s Legislative and Regulatory Affairs team will have plenty to talk about as they dissect the latest developments in Washington D.C. and provide a comprehensive run down of the key priorities for the remainder of 2024 and beyond.

The Northeast Region Meeting is going to be a fantastic event! Getting together with peers and having important conversations about issues that are not just industry wide but regional, and sharing how you’re dealing with them, is hugely important and well worth a few days out of the office. Whether you’re a regular attendee or are considering joining us for the first time, we look forward to seeing you there!
