It’s hard to believe, but just five short months ago, we announced our new name – the Alliance for Chemical Distribution – and our new brand manifesto of backing the chemical distribution experts our world depends on.
Still deliberating on whether to join fellow Alliance members and a selection of fantastic speakers at our 2024 Western Region Meeting next week from April 8-9, 2024?
The countdown has begun! On May 15 and 16, ACD members will descend upon Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. for our highly anticipated annual Fly-In. The two-day event will allow our members to introduce our new name and meet with Congressional offices to discuss the critical issues impacting the chemical distribution industry today.
It’s been a year since the successful introduction of our dedicated sustainability code to Responsible Distribution– covering environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.
Do you have a thorough understanding of the rules that apply to the generation and storage of hazardous waste at your – or your customers’ – facilities? Are you and your team aware of what actions need to be taken in the event of a regulatory inspection? Does your business have a firm hold on how it manages and maintains the appropriate records?
Chemical distribution is always evolving. For more than 50 years, our organization has supported most of the companies that considered themselves predominately chemical distributors. However, today, our industry and our members are much more diversified. Our members no longer think of themselves solely as chemical distributors. The Alliance for Chemical Distribution (ACD) is made up of proprietary blending specialists, tollers, marketers, warehousers, specialty manufacturers, and more. On average, members in our industry select more than three different business functions to describe their operations.
It’s been a year since the launch of ACD’s podcast, Chemline: Inside the Chemical Distribution Industry – and eight episodes in, we’re thrilled by the response. Thanks to the thousands of you who have tuned in and for all the fantastic feedback we’ve received.
As we head toward the presidential election and the end of the current administration, it’s likely that various agencies will be pushing out rules and regulations faster than ever – and with that comes even greater scrutiny on the supply chain and the activities of our members.
With this in mind, we invite you to come and join us for our 2024 Regulatory and Responsible Distribution Spring Workshops to help prepare for these inevitable changes and ensure your business continues to demonstrate high environmental, health, safety, and security (EHS&S) standards.
In case you haven’t noticed, things look a little different around here. At our 2023 Annual Meeting, we were excited to announce our new name – the Alliance for Chemical Distribution (ACD) – along with the meaning and rationale behind the change. Our colors, our logos, and our imagery have also been updated, and each was strategically designed to support the new brand.
Yesterday, I had the opportunity to appear before the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) to discuss the ongoing concerns with shipping movements through the Red Sea and Suez Canal and the impacts on the global supply chain as they relate to ACD member companies. In preparing for the hearing, I spent a lot of time researching and reading a host of supply chain publications, tracking service updates, and listening to member feedback. I came to the conclusion that the global supply chain is well on its way to being in a bigger mess over the next several months, even more than this time four years ago, albeit for a variety of different reasons.
