NACD Urges Immediate Action for Rail Negotiations from U.S. Senate

Arlington, VA – Today, National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD) President and CEO Eric R. Byer issued the following statement urging immediate action on rail negotiations from the U.S. Senate:

“Yesterday the U.S. House of Representatives passed, with bipartisan support, two important resolutions to address the pending rail strike. The first resolution would implement the agreement that Secretary Walsh brokered between rail workers and the railroads in September. The second resolution would give rail workers seven days of paid sick leave.

“NACD strongly supports both measures and encourages Senate Majority Leader Schumer and Minority Leader McConnell to allow votes on both measures this week. Alternative proposals, including a short-term extension to allow continued negotiations, do nothing but reset the clock so that we can all go through the same process in 60 days. We don’t need another Groundhog Day. We need an immediate resolution to ensure a stable supply chain.”
