NACD Announced as One of the Best Manufacturing Associations to Work For

The National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD) was recently named as one of the Best Manufacturing Associations to Work For by the National Association of Manufacturers’ (NAM) Council of Manufacturing Associations (CMA).

This program, designed in partnership with Best Companies Group, identifies and honors the best employers among manufacturing associations. The CMA recognized a total of 10 associations in 2019.

“Congratulations to these stellar organizations. They are setting a high standard for the entire business advocacy community. And they have demonstrated a commitment to building inclusive, engaging workplaces—something that manufacturers strive to do across the country,” said NAM President and CEO Jay Timmons. “Through the CMA, the NAM is helping manufacturing associations cultivate the environments that empower all of us to succeed in our work on behalf of the men and women who make things in America.”

“It is exciting to see these associations named to this list—some for the second year in a row,” said CMA Executive Director Tonya Muse. “I am happy the CMA can play a role in recognizing the amazing and creative things manufacturing associations are doing to recruit and retain top talent.”

NACD President and CEO Eric R. Byer stated, “We’re honored to receive this award from NAM. It is a testament to the hard work of our staff and the dedication of our member companies to support the overarching goals of NACD, ensuring chemical distributors are safety and environmental stewards in their communities and economic drivers of growth across the country. We thank NAM and CMA for acknowledging NACD’s efforts to build an organizational culture that strives for excellence across our staff and our membership.”

To be considered for participation, associations had to fulfill the following eligibility requirements:

  • Must be a manufacturing trade association representing manufacturers in the United States (501 c6);
  • Have an office in the United States;
  • Have a minimum of 15 employees working in the United States; and
  • Must be in business a minimum of one year.

Associations from across the country entered the two-part survey process to determine the Best Manufacturing Associations to Work For. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated association’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems, and demographics. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. The combined scores determined the top associations and the final ranking. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process, analyzed the data, and determined the final rankings.

The ranked associations will be recognized in August 2019, during the CMA Summer Leadership Conference in Charleston, South Carolina. A complete list of winners can be found here.
