NACD Applauds DHS Guidance on Critical Infrastructure Industries amid COVID-19 Response

Today, National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD) President and CEO Eric R. Byer issued the following statement welcoming guidance from the U.S Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency on industries considered as critical infrastructure as part of the nation’s response to COVID-19.

“NACD members play a vital role in the American supply chain and are serving as critical links to ensure communities across the nation are getting the chemical goods they need to combat COVID-19 – like personal care products, soaps and detergents, sanitizers, and products needed to keep our hospitals running.

“We welcome the recent guidance from DHS naming the chemical industry as an essential critical industry and workforce in response to the COVID-19 emergency. Our members are doing their part day-in and day-out to thwart the spread of this illness.

“Making sure products needed for the energy sector, water treatment, food supply, pharmaceuticals, and so much more to keep our economy running and our communities healthy is what NACD members proudly do every day. These companies must be allowed to continue their vital work, not only to keep the economy functioning, but also to keep American communities safe during the COVID-19 crisis. We’re glad to see our nation’s leadership recognize the important role of chemical distributors in the U.S. economy and in crisis response.”
