Chemical Distributors Advocate for Trade, Transportation, and Infrastructure Priorities on Capitol Hill

Arlington, VA – Nearly 50 members of the National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD) virtually met with Congressional representatives and regulatory officials in 106 meetings over the past two weeks during the association’s Congress Connect advocacy event. The event culminated with Congressman John Moolenaar (R-MI-4) introducing a resolution congratulating NACD on its 50^th anniversary.

“The chemical distribution industry – and businesses throughout America – are facing a number of challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic and current disruptions in the U.S. supply chain,” said NACD President and CEO Eric R. Byer. “Our advocacy efforts make sure chemical distributors’ voices are heard on Capitol Hill and give elected officials visibility into the important behind-the-scenes work that chemical distributors are doing in their home states.”

In addition to educating legislators on what the industry has done to ensure the fast and safe delivery of essential ingredients used in everything from hand sanitizer to PPE, NACD members advocated for renewal of the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) and Miscellaneous Tariff Bill (MTB) trade programs, the passage of the Developing Responsible Individuals for a Vibrant Economy (DRIVE)-Safe Act, comprehensive rail reform, and greater accountability for ocean carrier price gouging.
