Arlington, VA – Today, Alliance for Chemical Distribution (ACD) President and CEO Eric R. Byer released the following statement after the U.S. Senate voted to confirm former Congressman Lee Zeldin to serve as Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA):
“ACD applauds the Senate for confirming Lee Zeldin to serve as EPA Administrator. During his tenure in the U.S. House of Representatives, Mr. Zeldin was a thoughtful leader who understood you can protect the environment and public safety without imposing unreasonable regulations. While we are supportive of regulations based on sound science, the chemical distribution industry has faced numerous duplicative and burdensome regulations over the last few years. These actions have not only caused uncertainty for businesses but placed significant financial strain on our members. Mr. Zeldin will be an outstanding voice at the EPA and play an important role in scrutinizing existing regulations. We look forward to working with Mr. Zeldin to develop solutions that protect the environment while bolstering American businesses, empowering workers, and promoting American competitiveness.”
