NACD Presents Lifetime Achievement Award to Patrick Marantette

The National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD) awarded the association’s prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award to Patrick Marantette, who retired in August as Director of HORN after serving the company for 43 years. He received this award today at NACD’s 47th Annual Meeting, the premier chemical distribution industry event of the year. Marantette is the seventh winner of NACD’s most esteemed award.

Martantette was an early and active member of NACD, leading and serving on seven committees for over 20 years, culminating as Chairman of the Board from 2001 to 2002. Marantette also led the Chemical Educational Foundation (CEF) — formerly the NACD Educational Foundation — as President of their Board of Trustees from 2003 to 2005. A staunch advocate for NACD Responsible Distribution®, the association’s third-party-verified health, safety, security and environmental management practice, Marantette was named NACD’s Distributor of the Year in 2002 and went on to win CEF’s Vanguard Award in 2008 for his leadership and support of science education, and bringing CEF’s You Be The Chemist Challenge® program to California.

Pat played a major role in the early years of NACD, advancing its mission as the premier authority for chemical distribution, striving for excellence in NACD Responsible Distribution and in advocating for sound government policies. The membership applauded Marantette’s dedication to quality and peer mentorship during today’s award. Marantette also played a big role in the development of the You Be The Chemist Challenge, a national academic competition that encourages grades 5-8 students to pursue science education and STEM careers.

The award was presented to Martantette by the previous Lifetime Achievement winner David Garner of Brenntag North America, who said: “Pat has been influential in shaping the chemical distribution industry as we know it today. His commitment to the company where he dedicated four decades of life, his career, invaluable contributions as a volunteer at NACD and to the tenets of NACD Responsible Distribution, and his devotedness to the industry as a whole is truly remarkable. It’s with great pleasure that I am able to present this honor to Pat."
