Today, NACD announced that the association’s Chief Operating Officer Lucinda Schofer and Vice President of Membership and Education Matt Glaser have earned the American Society of Association Executive’s (ASAE) Certified Association Executive (CAE®) designation, the highest professional credential in the association industry.
To be designated as a Certified Association Executive, an applicant must have a minimum of three years’ experience with a nonprofit organization management, complete a minimum of 100 hours of specialized professional development, pass an examination in association management, and pledge to uphold a code of ethics. To maintain the certification, individuals must undertake ongoing professional development and activities in association and nonprofit management. More than 4,300 association professionals currently hold the CAE credential. The CAE program is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies.
Said Schofer, “I’m honored to join the ranks of ASAE industry leaders who strive to continue their knowledge, understanding and implementation of best practices in association management. The ASAE CAE designation is well respected and drives improvement at all levels of an organization. I believe this achievement is a testament to the knowledge I’ve earned from over 25 years of serving membership communities. The process to earn the CAE exposed me to new strategies that, looking forward, will enhance what we do at NACD and provided a new community of leaders to lean upon when needed.”
Glaser stated, “I am proud to be recognized as a CAE and to be part of this special group of association leaders that, like me, are committed to lifelong learning. Becoming a CAE represents an important milestone in my 25 years as an association professional. I am excited to impart the knowledge and best practices I have learned to positively impact NACD and its membership.”
NACD President Eric R. Byer applauded Schofer and Glaser on their accomplishment. “Lucinda and Matt’s commitment to becoming even better association professionals than they already are shows their dedication to continuous growth in their careers and in persistently seeking out ways to further the mission of NACD. I am proud to count them as part of our talented staff, and I commend them on their hard work to achieve their professional goals,” said Byer.
