NACD Welcomes Association Health Plans Proposed Rule

Today, National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD) President Eric R. Byer applauded the U.S. Department of Labor’s proposed rulemaking on the creation of association health plans that would allow businesses to band together to provide their employees with better, more affordable health insurance coverage.

“For small businesses like the typical chemical distributor, who on average employs 26 people, having greater options for their employee healthcare needs is critical not only for them to ensure a healthy workforce but also to keep costs down in a market sector with razor-thin margins.

“NACD has long been a supporter of association health plans to meet those needs. Our members are businesses large and small that employ tens of thousands of workers across the country and sell products to 750,000 customers in nearly every industry sector. By issuing this proposed rulemaking, the Trump administration is opening the door for businesses like NACD members to provide more healthcare options for their workers at a competitive cost.

“We thank President Trump for making this a priority within his administration. We look forward to reviewing the proposed rule and submitting comments to the Department of Labor to ensure our member companies can offer quality healthcare plans to their workforce.”
