NACD Commends Trump Executive Order on Association Health Plans

National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD) President Eric R. Byer issued the following statement on U.S. President Trump’s signing of an executive order allowing for the creation of association health plans that would provide small businesses with more affordable health care options for their employees and families.

“For small businesses like the typical chemical distributor, who on average employs 26 people, having greater flexibility in administering their employee health care needs is critical not only for them to ensure a healthy workforce but also to keep costs down in a competitive market sector with thin profit margins. Association health plans will provide an option for companies to offer health insurance to their employees at more affordable rates.

“We are pleased that President Trump has taken this issue seriously and signed an executive order that allows small businesses like chemical distributors to pool together across state lines through trade or professional associations to purchase health coverage in a way that increases their bargaining power with insurance providers while giving their employees and their families affordable health care choices. NACD stands ready to work with the administration to ensure small businesses have the best options at their fingertips for providing quality health care plans for their workers.”
