NACD Hires Layla Soberanis as New Director of Legislative Affairs

The National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD) is proud to announce the hiring of Layla Soberanis as the association’s new director of legislative affairs. She will advocate for critical issues on behalf of the chemical distribution industry on Capitol Hill, specifically on legislation related to labor, regulatory reform, tax, trade, and transportation. She will join Lindsay Ryan, director of legislative affairs, and Doug Leigh, legislative affairs coordinator, on the NACD advocacy team.

Ms. Soberanis was previously the public policy and regulatory affairs manager for the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA). During that time, she advanced NCGA’s mission by advocating for regulations and legislation pertaining to challenges corn growers face as well as policies that create opportunities for the more than 300,000 U.S. corn farmers. Before that, she served as a legislative representative and Spanish interpreter for the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA) providing policy, analytical research, and regulatory compliance input on immigration, healthcare, transportation, energy, pensions, and water infrastructure issues.

NACD President Eric R. Byer said, “Layla will be an excellent asset in achieving our legislative goals. Given her extensive advocacy experience in Washington, I am confident she will be a driving force in helping to craft policies that address our members’ concerns. We’re very excited to see all that she brings to our NACD team.”

Soberanis received a Juris Doctor degree from Ave Maria School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts, History and Hispanic Studies from the College of William and Mary.
