NACD Applauds Michigan State Resolutions Recognizing NACD Responsible Distribution®

Today, the National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD) welcomed the approval of Michigan State Senate Resolution 64 sponsored by Senator Peter MacGregor (R-MI-28) and State House Resolution 107 sponsored by Representative Terry Sabo (D-Muskegon), which both recognize the benefits of NACD Responsible Distribution®, the association’s mandatory third-party-verified environmental, health, safety and security (EHS&S) program. The resolutions also announce that today, May 24, is Responsible Chemical Distribution Day in the state of Michigan.

The resolutions acknowledge the program’s more than 25 years of improving safety and commend NACD for its commitment to excellence in every phase of chemical storage, handling, transportation, and disposal. They also applaud NACD and its Michigan member companies for working to be a healthy and positive force within the commerce of chemicals.

“We are thankful to Senator Peter MacGregor and Representative Terry Sabo for acknowledging Responsible Distribution and the commitment of NACD member companies in Michigan to ensure continuous improvement in our operational performance,” said Brad Hilleary, CEO of Webb Chemical Service Corporation based in Muskegon Heights, MI. “Responsible chemical distributors like Webb are proud of this recognition and will continue working hard to live up to the strict standards of NACD’s EHS&S program to protect our employees, customers and surrounding communities.”

“Chemical distributors have an $862 million economic impact in Michigan and provide nearly 2,200 direct jobs across the state,” said NACD President Eric Byer. “We are honored to receive this recognition from Sen. MacGregor and Rep. Sabo, and we look forward to growing that impact for another 25 years through responsible, safe and secure chemical distribution in Michigan and around the country.”
