NACD Applauds Senate Markup of Regulatory Reform Legislation

Today, National Association of Chemical Distributors President Eric R. Byer issued the following statement on the U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs’ markup of legislation aimed at streamlining the regulatory process and reducing burdens on small businesses, including the Regulatory Accountability Act (S. 951) and the Small Business Regulatory Flexibility Improvements Act (S. 584). 

“NACD commends the Senate markup of these important pieces of legislation that would significantly improve the regulatory climate for the business community as a whole and for small businesses like chemical distributors in particular. Over the last decade, NACD members have faced unprecedented and oftentimes contradictory regulatory actions with little proven benefit to safety or security that at the same have negatively impacted their day-to-day operations and ability to hire more workers. 

“We thank Chairman Johnson and others on the committee for making the reduction of red tape a priority in their efforts to return to commonsense governing. We now urge the Senate to move these bills quickly through their chamber and begin working with the House of Representatives so that businesses of all sizes can get back to what they do best: creating jobs and growing the U.S. economy.”
