NACD Welcomes House Passage of Association Health Plan Legislation

Today, NACD President Eric R. Byer issued the following statement on the U.S. House of Representatives’ passage of H.R. 1101, the Small Business Health Fairness Act, that would improve access and choice for small businesses to provide healthcare plans for their employees:

“For small businesses like the typical chemical distributor, who on average employs 26 people, having greater options for their employee healthcare needs is critical not only for them to ensure a healthy workforce but also to keep costs down in a market sector with razor-thin margins.

“NACD is pleased to see the House pass legislation that allows small businesses like chemical distributors to pool together across state lines through trade or professional associations to purchase health coverage in a way that increases their bargaining power with insurance providers while giving their employees and their families affordable health coverage.

“We now urge the Senate to quickly take up similar legislation so that tens of thousands of NACD member company employees and many other workers across the country can have greater choice over their own health.”
