NACD Statement on U.S. Chemical Safety Board Freedom Industries Report

National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD) President Eric R. Byer released the following statement about the U.S. Chemical Safety Board final report on the January 2014 chemical spill at Freedom Industries in Charleston, West Virginia, that was released today:

“NACD is reviewing the findings of the recently released U.S. Chemical Safety Board report on the 2014 Freedom Industries incident. Our members place the highest priority on the health, safety, and security of employees, communities and the environment. They are required to participate in NACD Responsible Distribution®, the association’s third-party-verified management system, and are well-versed on industry best practices to strengthen the safety and security of the industry as a whole. Companies, including Freedom Industries, that do not participate in programs like Responsible Distribution do not reflect the extraordinary value that our members place on safety, security, integrity and professionalism. We will carefully evaluate the findings and share any recommendations with our membership and our industry.”
