Rep. Sam Graves Introduces Statement into Congressional Record Recognizing NACD Responsible Distribution®Recently, Rep. Sam Graves (R-MO) submitted into the U.S. Congressional Record a statement affirming the value of NACD Responsible Distribution® and celebrating the 25th anniversary of the environmental, health, safety, and security program. Responsible Distribution is a mandatory condition of membership in the association as a third-party-verified management practice. In his remarks, Rep. Graves stated, “I rise today to recognize the 25th anniversary of the National Association of Chemical Distributors’ Responsible Distribution program. I want to congratulate NACD and its members for their commitment to continuous performance improvement in every phase of chemical storage, handling, transportation, and disposal…I am proud of NACD member companies for their commitment to Responsible Distribution and for their contributions to the economy in Missouri and throughout the U.S.” NACD President Eric R. Byer said, “We were honored to have Congressman Graves recognize Responsible Distribution by submitting a statement into the official record. He understands the value of industry-driven programs like Responsible Distribution and is committed to putting forward policies that support small businesses like the majority of chemical distributors, which generate nearly $30 billion in economic output, provide more than 70,000 jobs, and contribute more than $5 billion in local, state and federal taxes.” At the association’s 2016 Washington Fly-In, which kicked off earlier today, nearly 100 representatives from NACD member companies are meeting with their lawmakers to highlight the program’s quarter-century anniversary and educate lawmakers on the ways these businesses work to keep their employees and surrounding community safe through Responsible Distribution.
