OSHA Worker Walkaround Final Rule: What Does it Mean for My Business and How Can I Respond? On April 1, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) finalized its Worker Walkaround Designation Process rule with an effective date of May 31, 2024. This new regulation will allow a wide range of third-party non-employees to accompany government compliance officers during inspections, including union representatives in a non-union workplace. This represents a significant departure from the longstanding standard and exposes employers to a myriad of new and increased risks. In this session, Mark Trapp, Senior Counsel for the law firm Conn Maciel Carey with decades of experience in labor law and specific expertise with this rule, will educate attendees about what the new standard could mean for their workplace and discuss best practices to protect their business and maintain compliance.Download slides here. |

Hazard Communication Standard – Authoring Compliant SDSs and Labels With OSHA’s updates to the Hazard Communication Standard requiring substantial revisions to safety data sheets (SDS) and labels, it is critical for chemical distributors to have an effective system in place to make sure these documents are compliant. With 16 sections in an SDS, making sure that correct headings, subheadings, and data are used throughout the document can be a challenge. During this session, Datacor, Inc.’s Sharon Brody will review the most common SDS errors and share tips on how to avoid these mistakes and to create SDSs that will be compliant with OSHA’s requirements and provide consistency to customers. |
