OSHA's Hazard Communication Standard (HAZCOM) is based on the concept that employees have both a need and a right to know the hazards and identities of the chemicals they are exposed to while working. This HAZCOM Standard, also known as the 'Worker Right to Know Standard (and Understand),' is designed to provide you with the information you need to work safely.

This HAZCOM training will take place in two parts:

In Part I (2 hours), we will discuss basic OSHA requirements for the storage and use of hazardous chemicals in the workplace and the modification of OSHA's HAZCOM Standard to conform with the United Nations (UN) Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS) requirements. We will also review the elements of a Hazard Communication Standard. And finally, this Part will discuss additional regulatory labeling, including the US Hazardous Materials Identification System (HMIS), the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 704 Labeling System, and the Department of Transportation (DOT) Labeling System.

In Part II (2 hours), we will discuss the 16 Sections of a Safety Data Sheet (SDS), basic chemical and toxicological terms and concepts required for employees, and the most effective training on HAZCOM for ensuring compliance with the standard.

NACD is partnering with Strategic Partner, National Association of Safety Professionals (NASP), to offer this training. This course satisfies the general training requirements of OSHA's Hazard Communication standard 29 CFR 1910.1200 and all participants will be issued 0.4 CEUs upon completion.
